It's almost funny, they are fighting over who gets to support the recreational drug demand in the USA and take the obscene profits.

We could take the profit out of the recreational drug trade next week if we wanted to and if we taxed it...

Mankind has always used (& abused) 'things' to feel good, relax or forget. Always have.
Today there is just too much money involved on both sides of the recreational drug trade for the USA to take the profit out of it.

Our politicians won't do anything, just too much money flowing.

Uh, isn't one of the major sources for arms and ammo for the cartels what deserting soldiers and police bring or sell to them?

And, with the record in Mexico, won't arming another 1500 just increase the number of desertions, and increase the flow of weapons and ammo to the cartels?

What part is supposed to make sense out of this?

Rob, It is all about who is getting the money.

Brad K, I think these are troops they already have who are being deployed (for lack of a better word) for this task. Don't think they are increasing their armies size.
