Very Interesting Info on Posse Comitatus

The myth of Posse Comitatus . Though far less concerned with the growing role of the military in domestic affairs then some of you I certainly found this educational and interesting to boot. It is a bit heavy and sort of long but worth the read.

Hat top to YeOldFurt.

This paper certainly set me straight on the Posse Comitatus. Scary in it's implications.
Thanks for passing it on.

I had forgotten about the Marine being used in the LA riots of the early 90s to restore order. The bottom line is if you think the U.S. Military can not be used on U.S. soil you are dead wrong. Posse Comitatus only prevents military commander from taking it upon themselves to act. If the President say do it and congress approves it then it Constitutional. If anyone has any doubt just read Section 8 Powers of Congress in the U.S.Constitution. The military would have a constitutional legal obligation to carry out the orders. No if and or buts about it!!!

Also I just posted an article on my blog were President Bush considered this very action in 2002.

YeOldFurt, It was very interesting to me. Sort of cleared things up.

3rdman, I think some active duty Army may have been involved also. You more or less hit the nail on the head. In our complicated world of terrorism and such the line between 'support' and active participation is indeed thin.

I will check out the article.
