"I would like to have a designer purse with a gun pocket (she meant holster). That would be me in a nutshell."
-Wifey
She is probably going to make one at some point.
“A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects.” — Robert A. Heinlein

Here is a concealed carry purse:

Don't know how 'designer' it is. All my clothes come from Sam's or Target. I don't have an understanding or appreciation of things like that.
Humongous, Seen different ones before. As for designer she likes real fancy purses. They are her one splurge. She wears clothes from Walmart or Good Will.
Ah, I didn't wanna sound like I'm better because I buy cheap clothes. I just don't know from fashion. I wear cargo shorts and Texas Longhorn shirts or jerseys, whenever possible. But I know about having likes and dislikes. I'm pretty much a water snob. I used to just dig on tap water, but in the last ten years I became a real big-time bottled water guy. I don't usually waste too much on little bottles. We fill up the big 5 gallon tanks at the machine outside the grocery store. You can't beat cold, clean, water. But anyway, I'm not a frugality snob.
Humongous, No worries at all. We all have something we splurge on. I am completely cheap but will drop cash on preps, guns and precious metals. Wifey will spend 3 hours making tortillas to save a buck but has one very nice purse. It was her gift to herself for graduating from college. In the next couple years she will probably get another one and it will eventually have a holster sewn in.
cute!
My husband is leaning towards a Glock 9mm. We have submitted the paperwork but it will take about a month to get approved.
AMEN - the thought of shooting a hole through some of my "trophies" just makes me sick....but I guess the alternative isnt so keen either ;)
Jungle Mom, Thanks. A Glock 9mm is a great gun. Can't say anything at all bad about them and intend to pick up about 3 more myself.
To me the real question would be if you can carry it. If carry is out of the question then I would suggest considering a 12 gauge shotgun. Awesome for home defense and can reach out to 100 meters or so with slugs. Also great for all manner of hunting or trap/ skeet stuff.
If you decide to go Glock I would consider the compact Glock 19. They are a bit smaller and easier for female hands to get around but still hold 15 bullets. This is my Glock of choice.
Pearls, Don't shoot through the purse. The odds of managing to point your purse and hit someone with the bullet are slim to nil. Also the odds the gun will jam after the first shot are high. Draw the weapon from the holster and shoot the goblin normally.
To be honest I only recommend purse carry if the alternative is having said pistol in the glove box or the night stand.
Galco makes a line of womens purses that have the concealed pocket as well as a kevlar trauma plate so essentially it is a bulletproof purse. have her look into it, probably not going to be the cheapest but they are well built.
Gray Man, We will look into that. It isn't so much a concern of cost as a question of whether she would like and use it.
gray man! that is so awesome!
when she designs one ... let me know! i'll take two :)

-S, I think it is going to be a custom job. I will certainly write about it if and when plan is put to action.
