“A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects.” — Robert A. Heinlein

I do not know how people survive anything without a machete. I have used one to cut grass, plant a garden, build a house, peeled veggies and fruit, cut firewood, killed snakes and rats. I tried to use one to swing at a bat but missed, I got it with a towel tho!
Never had to use it for protection against a person...yet!
You can buy three, and still not reach the price of a cheap new rifle of similar caliber. Can't beat $185 for 880 rounds of ammo delivered either. Oh yeah, they are excellent shooters as well...
Jungle Mom, I don't know either.
Mayberry, The price is sure hard to beat, ditto for cheap ammo.
I sold my off, but plan on getting another - hopefully in better condition than the last one.
! Have an M44. Great Weapon errr firearm. My eldest is getting a 91/30 for Christmas! Only 99 bucks at Fleet Farm!! Oh yeah...The gun count only goes up!!
