My goals for this year.
Personal:
1. Pay more attention to my wife.
2. Travel a lot.
Personal Stuff:
3. We can use a few smaller things like a
Financial:
4. Stash some more Euro's. Say E400 or so.
5.
6. Stash at least a half an ounce of gold and 40 ounces of silver. If things go well 1.5 times that could be possible but this is a minimum.
7. Continue to not make stupid choices.
+I do not have any direct goals when it comes to saving money aside from those above. Depending on how Wifey's job goes (how many hours she gets) saving for the much needed reliable car might take 2-3 months or as much as 8 months. If the car gets purchased earlier we will be able to save more, in part because it means we would be making more.
Skills:
This one got replaced by brewing some beer.
Preparedness Stuff :
Gun Stuff:
12. Buy a full case of .223
13. Half cases each of 7.62x39, 9mm and just maybe .38. Full ones if I am feeling rich.
14. Glock 9mm mags. At least 10 and ideally closer to 20.
15. Some M1a mags. At least 10 and ideally closer to 20.
16. A few more spare parts and at least one AR15 full bolt carrier group.
Food Rotation:
17. Get a pressure canning setup and can something. In reality we will almost certainly can more than one thing but it is a very clear is you is or is you ain't goal all the same.
18.
And Just To Get To An Even 20......
19. Get a subscription to Backwoods Home Magazine and otherwise work on my self sufficiency/ preparedness library.
20. Join a gun rights organization.
I would say my goals start at the top in terms of priority and work more or less downward from there. I put more small stuff on here than last time. I tried to outline everything I would like to purchase which costs over a couple hundred bucks. That is mostly because I am trying to purchase stuff in a more dispassionate manner and plan ahead.
Thoughts?
TOR adds: Wifey pointed out I started with more than 20 resolutions because I doubled up on number 12.

After hearing you bash on early battle rifles why M1-a mags.Shootin or for barter.I thought you worshipped at altar of AR-15. Looks like a good list.
Hello
I like the brewing beer part. Do not get frustrated if the first batch or 2 suck. I started with a mister beer set up but have progressed to the capacity of 45 gallons at a time and grain recipes. I find craigslist as a good source of equiptment as people buy stuff get frustrated and quit. I bought $500 worth of stuff for $80. If you do not like a recipe you usually have a friend that will drink it.
Items 19 and 20 are walks in the park. With BWH Magazine, multi-year subscriptions get you some books as well. I THINK they may have a service member discount as well.
NRA, GOA are all relatively inexpensive, and at least with the NRA, you get a monthly magazine as well.
How'd the beer turn out?
Chinasyndrome, Umm not quite sure how to handle that one. I don't think I have ever spoken ill of semi automatic magazine fed .308's except to say that they are large, heavy, expensive and expensive to equip. Now older bolt action rifles I do not think are ideal for tactical and defensive roles.
I do like the AR. I also intend to get an M1A at some point. If it is more practical or more of a collector move I don't know, likely some of both. In any case I would like to have a few mags salted away for that eventuality. Worst case I doubt they will get cheaper so if I never get an M1A I could barter or sell them.
Thanks.
Hey 9:30, Good suggestions. I know a guy here who is pretty serious into brewing so when I get ready to start I will surely ask him some questions. Like the idea of haunting craigslist for cheap stuff. I am a pretty easy beer drinker to please so it should work OK. Will talk about it when I get there.
Chief, I agree with you on 19 and 20. Easy enough but still stuff I have been meaning to do for awhile. Also 20 is a nice round number.
I am thinking JPFO.
Haven't gotten to brewing the beer yet. Maybe I will have to start shopping figure out what sort of cash outlay I am looking at. That way I could start saving for it.
For your library I'd suggest Carla Emery's "Encyclopedia of Country Living" and Steve Solomon's "Gardening in Hard Times".
For Carla's book - a new edition has just recently been released, she died a few years back & I haven't read that one so cannot say if it has stayed true but any of the earlier editions are good. Steve Solomon founded "Territorial Seeds" and was big on intensive gardening, he has changed his mind & explains why. Between the two you will have most aspects of food production well covered.
Hey TOR Sorry dude maybe I misunderstood. It was early bolt and M-1 garands.I havent heard you knock m-1a.Anyway no disrespect meant.
Chinasyndrome, To be honest I have probably pointed out the weaknesses of pretty much every weapons system at some point, including the ones I own.
I like em all but find semi auto military pattern rifles with detachable magazines ideal for defensive roles.
