Q- "Do you usually take a pump action shotgun on a day trip?"
A- "Can't be too careful these days."
-An FBI agent and Madeline Weston on Burn Notice
“A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects.” — Robert A. Heinlein

I kind of like the opening scene in Tommy Lee Jones' "Man of the House".
Sharp: (cocks shotgun)
Partner: Sharp! We're going to a church.
Sharp: That's why I didn't bring a helicopter.
(They didn't use the shotgun, or carry it. The only weapon used was a plastic arm glove, used to "retrieve" a hidden cell phone. From a cow. Gotta love that "Texas Ranger" humor.)Bel
A bunch of anti-gun nuts have been whining about people legally carrying guns into Starbucks and grocery stores. Yesterday a disgruntled employee went into a Publix supermarket in my neighborhood and opened fire, killing at least one and having a shoot-out with the cops. Publix is the best / most upper scale supermarket chain in Florida. Recently, some scumbag killed a couple of customers inside a Wendy's restaurant, and there have been multiple robberies of chain drug stores like Walgreens & CVS. So, I agree with Mom "Can't be too careful these days" and I carry everywhere.
I carry everywhere. I am in northern IN and we are going to Pensacola FL for spring break. Arsenal for trip: 9mm 3 spare clips 2 50 round boxes of ammo, 1 single shot 410/22 appropriate ammo, 1 AK 74 with 8 30 round clips. My wife is half tolerant. My point was proven when we were in Southern IN. We were going on a cave tour. She said really a gun for this. You never know. On the tour the guide told of a hold up by a disgruntled employee some years back with a shotgun.
