John Mosby offers a challenge to anybody who wants to test that theory. Are you and your AK/M1A/FN-FAL/BAR/G3/Garand/etc up for it? I wanted to share that with everybody.
Sort of along the lines of the AR/AK/.308/whatever debate. Lately I find myself caring less and less what guns other people choose to use. There are a variety of really good options out there as well as some less good and downright bad ones. What people can do with the weapons they choose matters a lot. It is really the meat sack behind the gun that matters, not so much the gun itself. How folks plans to keep guns running by stocking/ replacing consumables and spare parts matters in the long run. Those two things matter far more than the gun one chooses assuming they make at least a halfway decent choice. If folks ask what I use and why either for advice or out of curiosity of course I will share but otherwise I see no point in arguing.

I tend to agree... Most folks would probably be better off with a $500 carbine course plus a $500 rifle, rather than just a $1000 rifle with no training.
Even a $70 weekend at appleseed would do a lot for many folks!
I think there's also a lot of unstated assumptions in rifle caliber wars. My personal "SHTF" is a group of 3-5 home invaders with soft body armor. For that scenario it is hard to beat a short AR with red dot and mounted light. Someone else's "SHTF" might look more like Mad Max in which case a HK91 makes sense I guess. But unless you state the scenario or intended use it is hard to compare.
This thing is going viral. Some are saying John Mosby is offering 500 silver dollars or 1,000 Walking Liberty fifty cent pieces if anyone, using any rifle can beat him where Mosby is using an AR 5.56. They're talking ranges to 1,200 yards.
The Swiss are interested in sending a team as are the British. The Afgans are also sending a team and they promise to use rifles built in the Kyber Pass. They make them out of railroad rails and Jeep axles.
Mosby packs his AR in Crisco, throws it in the mud and stomps on it. Says he can beat any rifle and rifleman in the world and he's got the silver to prove it.
It only takes one guy armed with a single shot 410 and the will and cunning to use it effectively to take you out of the conversation permanently. Man over machine. It was ever thus.

I read that post - its GOOD! But Mosby should back that up and switch guns with his opponent and do the test again, just for a reality check. Bet Mosby will do just fine - ITS THE OPERATOR!
@7:03, For the accuracy portion I would agree it is obviously the man. As to stoppages given comparable care it is the gun.
