M4 Flat Top 1" Scope Mounts

Hey, I am pretty much set on a Leupold Mark AR 1.5-4 but unsure about a mount. Leupold makes one but I am not sure the clearance in back is sufficient for a (folding) BUIS. Also I would prefer to be able to take it off without a wrench if needed.

If you are running a 1" scope on an AR or similar gun I am curious about the mount you are using and how you like it.

Thanks in advance.

I am also vaguely in the market for a 1-4x for similar reasons and was also looking at the MK-AR.

AR-15.com has a bunch of data. Here's one thread:

It looks like the big feature missing from the MK-AR is an illuminated reticle. I'm not sure how useful that feature is. I have a Bushnell with a glow-in-the-dark reticle which is definitely useful at dawn/dusk, and my AIMPOINT is much easier to use in low illum than my Leupold Scout Scope.

It is a lot cheaper than the Leupold CQ/T though!

PS -- I'm personally holding off on more optics at the moment. Glass gets cheaper and better every year, and mid to high end optics seem unaffected by the current panic and legislation pending. I'm happy enough with the AIMPOINT PRO for 2/3 of rifle tasks I'm likely to encounter...

Chris, There are 2 reticules on the MK AR. The one with the duplex reticule does not have an illuminated reticule. The one with the Firedot G reticule does.

Chris, Not a bad plan. I sold an ACOG today so some cash was freed up.

Zero, So do you just slap some rings on that thing?

Spend the money and get Larue. An spr or spr-e mount should do the job.

I have a Leupold 1.25-4X20 VX-R scope with the Mark4 IMS mount and a Magpul rear BUIS (gen1) will touch the eyepiece.

The LaRue mount may give you a bit more clearance.

What Alexander Wolf said. I'm not running anything else on optics, whether scope or dot sights. Quality kit.

Call 'em up and have a chat about which mount to get, based on the scope you plan to run.

I've got the 4x IOR M2 ( http://www.dsarms.com/4x24-M2-IOR_Valdada-Tactical-Rifle-Scope-223-Caliber----VT424M2223CQB/productinfo/VT424M2223CQB/ ) on my 'distance' AR and use the ARMS ring/mount combo. It returns to zero but is QD enough that I could dump the scope if I wanted to and swich to BUIS if I wanted. I suppose the smart move would be to get a set of the 'offset" front/rear sights so i can use the AR for fast CQB by canting it slightly to the side and using those sights.
